Me faltan 39 días más o menos....
This wait is absolutely killing me. Though when thinking more deeply about it, maybe what I hate so much are all the things that I have to do within these next 39 days before my grand adventure in Spain can begin. The 2 biggest pains are selling my car, and my phone and its contract. I really don´t want to sell my car, afterall I can´t get nearly as much $ for it as what I paid for it only 3 short years ago and, well, I like the car. But I have to rest assured I´m moving on to bigger and better things, persuing my dream actually, and just let it go. I´ll be happy when it´s sold and this whole dealing with strangers process is over. As for the phone, I´ll worry about that next.
This summer has been pretty busy up until now, being "FUNemployed" and all sure starts to make the days blend together and drag on but it is an awfully sticky situation I am in. I clearly can´t go get a job now for 39 days, I just don´t think that would vale la pena.
So instead, I´ll spend my time plotting out European adventures and starting a blog (entre otras cosas).
During my AMAZING time in South America a little over a year ago I kind of wish I would have kept a blog, or at least a diary, of all the experiences I had. That would have enabled me to look back and remember all of the littlest crazy and wacky details. Instead I took HUNDREDS of photos and those now serve as my only doorway into the experience, the only source I can count on to conjure up all of the experiences that I went through while in Argentina and Uruguay. Because of this, I am starting this blog, but also a personal journal, AND will also, once again, take THOUSANDS of photos of all of my Spanish, and European, adventures. This will have two main purposes:
1. To hopefully forever have a personal account of my sure-to-be incredible experience in Europe, and
2. To share these same experiences with my friends and family back home. **Let´s not lie, there will be some (probably many) things that happen in my Spain days that I will NOT want to share with everyone....and this is where the private journal, mi corazón, and mi mente will surely come in handy.
:-P
In these next 39 days I will have to say goodbye to alot of friends, family, material posessions, and my lovely apartment which I´ve called home for pushing 4 years now. But I truly believe it is all worth it. Being abroad in Argentina was the best experience of my life and I swore to myself then, on that flight back to Los Estados Unidos and countless times while in South America, that it was not the end of my aspirations, goals, and life abroad. I immediately began searching for a way to live abroad again, spending countless sleepless hours browsing through programs in France, Brasil, Portugal, y España and, after applying to a few, finally was accepted to a teaching position in Madrid, España!! This truly is my dream -to not only go to Europe and visit, but to LIVE there. To experience every tiny detail, to meet the locals, to share with them their culture, values, and ways of life. To be able to use my foreign language skills everyday and to continue to improve them all the while. Living in europe is going to give me such a great opportunity to learn and grow as a person. It will be so easy to not only use my Español but my Portugués as well and continue to study and hopefully become fluent in Francés también. All of these things excite me more than I could ever explain.
I always swore to myself I would finally be free and out of Columbus Ohio by the time I was age 25 and I am FINALLY doing just that. The coolest part is that I´m not just moving across the state or across the country but OUT of the country. Yes, that´s right, I´m moving across the pond folks. And I just KNOW I´m going to love it there. ¿Quién sabe? Es posible que voy a quedarme allí por mucho más tiempo que lo esperado...
